What is a hex?

A hex is a symbolic piece of artwork, often seen on barns. The Pennsylvania Dutch Amish are credited with this tradition, but they don’t actually use them. The hex sign comes from a branch of their German descendents who used the symbolic artwork to “place a hex” on documents and structures to protect the structure and those inside of it from evil or misfortune.
